RIPPEY LIONS – The Rippey Lions Club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 6 pm at the Rippey United Methodist Church with a potluck meal.
During the program time, food will be prepared to serve on Feb. 5 when the BRR riders come to town. Area residents are welcome also. Members and other volunteers will be helping with the preparation, set up and serving.
The next meeting is Feb. 16 at the church.
RIPPEY LIBRARY – Join us after school on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the library. Hop off the bus and come on in for a story, craft, and snack!
JEAN’S JOTTINGS – The Rippey United Methodist Church volunteers are preparing this week for the BRR riders. There will be plenty of food and much visiting for the riders to enjoy.
The weather over the years has ranged from the upper 50’s to a minus 40 wind chill in 1988.
Among those making the ride that year were presidential hopeful Bruce Babbitt and his wife Hattie of Arizona. When he and his large entourage of media people came into the former Rains building where we were serving food, those on the committee were able to watch as the former governor visited and shook hands with other bikers. I’ll bet those people never have forgotten that experience!
Hopefully the weather will cooperate and this year’s ride will be safely enjoyed by all.
